Clean Out Your Trash

Theres a common saying, taking three steps forward and two steps back. Weve all felt this sort of frustration at some point in our life. Luckily youre reading this article and I have an exercise to show you how to eliminate the two steps back.

By focusing on something, youre going to draw it to you. Focusing on anger brings anger. Focusing on being a money magnet, draws money. Focusing on love brings love. It makes sense then that when we focus on forgiveness, we draw healing and positive things into our lives leaving negativity behind.

We can use forgiveness to benefit ourselves. What Im telling you is very pragmatic.

Where are you blocked in life? Is there a place where you want to get ahead but you find your attempts thwarted? This would be a perfect area to exercise forgiveness.

Were human. Weve all had trials and tribulations, many of us are prone to resentment and anger and frustration at people withholding from us what we needed. And in turn we have withheld understanding from ourselves and the cycle is repeated. Theres good news. . .

By forgiving yourself and others, you can clear this garbage out of your unconscious mind.

The great thing about this exercise in forgiveness is that it doesnt have to be done in person with those who have upset you or who youve upset. This is what you should keep upper most in your thoughts:

Forgiveness is done to benefit ourselves not somebody else.

Sincerity is the first step in forgiveness. Being willing to let go of what youre holding on to is mandatory. This is not about the act of forgiving but about actually forgiving. After youve performed the exercises, if you find that you havent fully let go of the resentments or anger or whatever, you havent fully actually forgiven.

For this exercise youll need a piece of paper and a pen...

Focus on yourself for a moment. Think of times when you did something that you are not proud of or when you did something to someone that was harmful. Write them all down.

Write down the times youve wronged others.

Write down times when you may have been too hard on yourself.

Write down everything you can think of. You can make it a list, you can make it a paragraph, you can make it a poem, you can make it epic. After each incident, write out specifically what you did and to whom.

Write about how you have carried these memories, feelings, resentments, with you. What form have they taken? Anger? Guilt? Self-hatred?

Maybe youve been hard on yourself as a result. That can be alleviated. Write that you are now forgiving yourself. When you do this, when you forgive yourself first, you will find it much easier to forgive other people.

Take all that youve written and write yourself a letter. Make sure youve said all that you have to say.

The next step is crucial in forgiveness and will really impact the power you have to persuade and influence yourself and others.

Take your letter outside, where its safe and you have privacy, and read it out loud. State what youve done and make sure to include that you are absolutely, 100% forgiving yourself for all that youve done.

Release it all.

Now light it on fire. Burn it up. This process sets all of the negative energy free. As you watch it turn to as, you are releasing anger and resentment and bitterness and all the ways youve beaten up on yourself.

When this has been accomplished, give a statement of gratitude and appreciate yourself for understanding the importance and doing the work of discharging that negativity. You can now move ahead in your life. Notice how much lighter you feel.

Now that youve forgiven yourself, its time to forgive others...

Think about how you feel wronged by others.

Maybe you were really screwed over by an employer? They really took advantage of you and you felt cheated? Underappreciated? Lied to?

Write out a list of the people who wronged you and for each one, write a separate letter. Start with the biggest offenders.

And then write out your forgiveness of them. Write out what they did to you and what you have carried with you as a result. State it clearly.

And finally. . .

Now that youve formally and completely forgiven them on all levels for what they did to you, its time to go back out to your private, safe place and read all the letters. Burn them, releasing all of it. Then, spend a few moments basking in the sense of freedom and release that you experience.

When you have cleared out the trash, you will find massive amounts of room for prosperity and joy and abundance to circulate and flow. This will give you a very solid foundation for your persuasion skills to begin to really impact your life.

Forgiveness is, in itself, a form of persuasion. When we persuade our unconscious to release the garbage, we grasp hope and excitement for the future. Removing mental blocks helps us to achieve the lives we desire.

Forgiveness does not change the past, but it does enlarge the future. - Paul Boese
